The icon I have painted is based on the Holy Icon entitled PANAYIA ELEOUSA which means Source of Mercy. The original is at Kykkos Monastery in Cyprus and is highly revered throughout the Orthodox peoples of the world. Many pilgrims come to the monastery and seek help from the miracle-working icon. I decided to paint the icon after having read an article about a charity based in Scotland called Mary's Meals that feeds hungry school- children of the world. I would have copies printed and sell them for this charity.
