Picture of Moya Hogarth
I studied textile design at Winchester school of Art and worked for Courtauld Prints for a few years on their design team.In 1988 I became freelance and sold my designs to the USA. For the past ten years I have been painting religious icons, landscapes and animal portraits. I have also developed a technique of painting which mimics woven fabric-it appears like tapestry. I was commissioned to paint in this style a large view of Merton and also a booklet cover for the Wimbledon Guild.
In 2007 I was awarded a commendation of excellence certificate by the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery, London. This was for a set of miniature paintings of cats and dogs.My icons can be seen in various churches in the borough of Merton, and are in many homes world-wide.They range in size and are based on the Russian and Greek style.I exhibit twice yearly with The Worple Group of artists and I also accept commissions.
